Mirror mirror on the wall...
After an in depth, world defining, beer induced talk with Robbyn, I decided to use my mirror as an inspirational message post. It has served me well, guiding me as I set off on these new adventures...
The Adventure Begins...
Welcome to The Great (mis)Adventures of Jamison Avery.
A new year is upon me, my 34th of this lifetime. 2009 looks to be full of opportunity and hopefully fulfillment. I have decided to take on 2 new challenges this year. Move back to the Orlando area to help expand Beck Wholesale Parts into that market, and learn the tools necessary to become a freelance Web Designer.
The move back to Orlando is going to be the most interesting. After 8 years with Beck, I am excited to have the opportunity to help them expand into this market. I have been with the company as we took on the Gainesville /Ocala, Daytona /Deland and Tallahassee areas. I am sure I have the ability to move us to the next level, but I also realize that the competition will be stiff and there will be some slow going in the beginning. I just hope I am able to persevere. I am also a little nervous about the relocation. Although I have family and friends in and around Orlando, I will be leaving family and friends behind as well. Overall I feel this is a good move and will open up many more opportunities for me.
My other challenge will be developing the Skills needed to open my own Web Design company. I have decided to self learn and let experience be my teacher. I will take on several projects, learning new skills and honing them as I build a portfolio. I have given myself 1 full year to create a portfolio and actually form my own business. This I believe will be fun as well as opening up an extra avenue of income possibilities.
I will be using this blog as a web log detailing my progress in both of these adventures. I will be updating short term goals and projections for myself in both endeavors. In the Web Design category, I will be posting various sites I am working on and ask for opinions and tips if anyone is willing to share these with me. So check back and see what I have been up to.
Thanks,
Jamison
